Just Say No: Opponents of Houston HERO Ordinance Sue Again to Change Ballot Wording

Just days after the Houston city council put the HERO anti-discrimination ordinance on the November ballot, the leading group opposed to the law – who petitioned for a repeal election – are suing again to change the ballot wording. Contending the ballot language is confusing, they wish to turn the proposition language around so that people opposed to the law get to vote no. The mayor has already responded formally and was quite animated about it on a radio program Friday afternoon. She points out the city used wording proposed in the plaintiffs own original public petition calling for a repeal.
