Texas School Curriculum Comes Under Renewed Fire for Whitewashing Civil War, Slavery, & Jim Crow

While South Carolina has been at the epicenter of controversies over the Confederate flag this month, Texas has since found itself at the center of debate on how we teach children about the history of the Civil War, and its causes. It has put a renewed focus not just on the Texas curriculum standards themselves, but on the politicized process the state board of education uses to decide what is included, and what is not.
