Senator Cornyn Vows to Strengthen Federal Efforts Against Human Trafficking

Although a week ago John Cornyn voted against the Violence Against Women Act, he is very active in addressing the seemingly related problem of trafficking in this nation. Recently he appeared in Houston to learn more from anti-trafficking advocates about a new court-based initiative, “GIRL’s Court.” This special court was established by Judge Schneider in 2011 and seeks to address young victims of human trafficking as victims rather than criminals. Additionally, he announced plans to offer a new Human Trafficking Reporting Bill next week when Congress returns from recess.
