We’re trying to capture great stories of holiday giving and caring this season, and we couldn’t resist this pair of reports showcasing kids making a difference in very humble ways.
First of all, as reported by KHOU 11 News, comes the story of Kristiana Alaniz, who is turning 12 on this 12/12/12. However, instead of celebrating for herself, Alaniz is asking others to help bring in more coats at the Star of Hope Shelter. In lieu of gifts she wants Houstonians to donate needed coats at a special afternoon birthday party at the shelter on 6801 Ardmore.
And then there was this from Bellaire. The Evelyn’s Park project in that city is needing help to get established, and a donation of $70.85 cents in a plastic bag, from 6-year old Luke Ritter. It got him a lot of attention, as well as interest in his future plans to help raise even more. This is no doubt how professional fundraisers get their start.
