Seeking to Build an Oasis in Houston’s Food Deserts

“Food deserts” have been a problem in Houston and other major cities for a long time now. The lack of quality and affordable food shopping in lower income neighborhoods, means health, nutrition and finances are a tough balance for residents in areas where major supermarkets fear to tread. Lately though some local activists hope to reverse this trend both through their own work, and their lobbying of these firms.
