A public relations firestorm that’s been blazing all week may now be out. The Susan G Komen for the Cure Foundation has backtracked on a decision to ban breast-screening grants to Planned Parenthood.
At issue was a change in Komen’s internal rules that prohibited grants to organizations that are under investigation. Since Planned Parenthood faces a congressional inquiry, relating to abortion services, that was enough to cut-off about $600,000 that Koman provided for breast-cancer screening.
In Houston, local representatives of the organizations say they were just caught in the middle. (See the full story at KRIV 26 News)
