Samuel Dalembert: A Towering Figure With The Rockets, But Grounded By His Devotion to Haiti

Feeling a connection between Haiti and Houston might seem difficult for some until you realize we shared Hurricane Ike; which hit the poor island nation several days prior to its arrival in Houston. (And which was the last of four deadly storms that nation experienced that hurricane season). But we also share some prominent community members with Haiti.

Samuel Delembert just joined the Houston Rockets in December, but his heart is still connected to his homeland of Haiti through his work off the court with the Samuel Dalembert Foundation. KRIV 26 News recently profiled his work for his homeland and learned of the importance he is to his nation. (video below)

And during the off-season in Haiti he also makes a point to participate in essential outreach and awareness programs such as those provided by UNICEF. (UNICEF Video)
