Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Asks for Public Support After Devastating Year of Fire & Drought

This is not the typical charitable plea you see before the holidays, but Texas has not had a very typical year. The drought and wildfires that impacted Bastrop and nearby Montgomery County this summer have also had a devastating impact on all Texas State Parks, facilities that rely on visitors and tourists for a significant amount of their budget. This year a shortfall of $4.6 million to TPW has occurred due to declining park use and license fees. Thus the agency has launched a campaign for contributions and expanded attendance. (Video below)
