HIV & Teens: Call for Testing is Sure to be Another Challenge for Parents & Abstinence-Only Policies

Last week we reported the alarming rate of teen pregnancy in Texas, but what about the incident of HIV infection among our teens? While the disease can go unnoticed to the outside world, the real problem is that half of teens who contract the virus are not even aware of it themselves. Thus putting many others as risk of infecting too. Recently KHOU 11 News interviewed Dr Mark Kline of the Texas Children’s Hospital and the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative on the topic, and the certainly controversial suggestion from the American Association of Pediatrics to test teens.
