Interfaith Peace Garden sows seeds of religious harmony
(Houston Chronicle)
Houston’s Institute of Interfaith Dialog hit a milestone in its religious peace process this week as it broke ground for its Interfaith Peace Garden, a multi-religious center set to open within a year on West Bellfort, which was hailed as the first of its kind in the nation by local religious leaders, politicians and residents.
The nonprofit aims to increase understanding among people of different faiths through shared experiences. Two years ago, volunteers had an idea for a multi-religious center to create direct interfaith and intercultural interaction in Houston. The Interfaith Peace Garden will include three buildings – a synagogue, mosque and church – serving as a single place of worship, learning center, museum and event venue open to the public.
