Because of a concern over lost funds and resources that could have deployed to other cases, the local child-search agency Texas EquuSearch has moved forward to sue Casey Anthony in Florida courts. Citing recent trial court statements that show Caylee Anthony was known to have been already dead at the time the family was enlisting their services, the founder Tim Miller is seeking recovery of over $100,000 in expenses accrued in their search for the 2-year old girl.
According to Houston Chronicle coverage:
EquuSearch spent more than $100,000 on motel rooms, rented vehicles and other expenses that consumed 40 percent of the organization’s annual budget. While fully devoted to the Caylee Anthony search, the group turned down 15 requests from other families to look for their missing loved ones.
The suit alleges that Anthony made “ongoing misrepresentations” to EquuSearch and its founder, Tim Miller, and failed to correct “materially false information” to persuade staff and volunteers to “engage in extensive, costly and time-consuming searches for Caylee.” The group seeks repayment for services rendered based on “lies, omissions and deceptions.”
