Reel Change Film Frenzy Comes To Houston: Filmmakers & Nonprofits Partner to Get Their Messages Out

The role of video is growing more and more in today’s nonprofit organization. Whether it is covering your own events, documenting client testimonials, or producing short videos for the purpose of attracting donors, video provides a powerful way to make your presence in a community tangible to a viewer. However, making your own video can often feel daunting, unless you have a budding Spielberg among your staff or volunteers.

Lights. Camera. Help., an Austin-based nonprofit organization wants to help. And in partnership with the Alamo Drafthouse Houston they are bringing the Reel Change Film Frenzy to Houston in January.

The idea is simple. Connect ten filmmaking teams and ten nonprofits in the Houston area. Have them meet, decide on a concept and then give them 48 hours to turn their idea into reality. Then have all ten films screened in front of a LIVE audience with wonderful cash and prizes awaiting the winning films.

Winning filmmakers from this weekend-long challenge in Houston starting on January 25th (and another in Austin the week earlier) will win fabulous prizes and major bragging rights among their friends. And every participating nonprofit wins a short film that highlights their great work.

To learn more about either event, see the registration form at Light. Camera. Help’s website.
All teams need to be signed up by the end of December.
