Mostly praise for Texas’ draft frac fluid rules at hearing
Public comments on proposed disclosure rules for hydraulic fracturing fluid were brief and largely positive during hearings in Austin on Wednesday. The rules – based on new law and in response to growing environmental and health concerns — requires companies to list on a public website all the ingredients in the mix of fluids pumped under high pressure into shale formations to break apart and release natural gas.
