Without any doubt the shootings in Colorado a week ago were shocking. And while many in the Houston media are all seeking a local angle to report it (primarily by seeking out family and and friends of victims), we think this part of the story needs more attention. Like many American’s, many of the survivors in Colorado have no or limited health care insurance. And the the predicted costs of treatment for years to come could be astronomical. Thankfully in some cases there are hospitals waiving fees and some charitable efforts are emerging to help survivors.
