Back in 2010, comedian Jon Stewart went to the mat for firefighters and other first-responders who served for months at the scene of the September 11th attacks in New York City. At that time he was advocating for the James L. Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act, which provided for federal medical assistance related to a range of mysterious illnesses associated with the work at the site. But that fund is about to run out, and firefighters from Houston are joining the comic in calling for action again, even as their remember some of their own impacted by the experience of helping at Ground Zero.
