Battle on the Homefront: PTSD & the Military

As Lt. Col. David Cabrera was laid to rest yesterday in Spring, its worth noting that he was a clinical social worker who volunteered to go to Afghanistan. There he was  working in-country on an issue so many other soldiers come back home with, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

We noted with some interest this statistical infographic coming out of LiveScience.com about veterans and PTSD.

With more troops returning home in the next few months, as US involvement in Iraq comes to a formal end, mindfulness of factors needed to further them in transitioning back to the homefront will be necessary. Families and care-givers already understand this, but so to must our communities, employers, and policy-makers.
