On Tuesday, Harris County officials announced confirmation of the first case of a infant lost to the Zika virus in the United States. The child, born a few weeks ago to a Houstonian who had been traveling to El Salvador, died just a few hours after birth at a local hospital.
Cases like this are sure to raise more alarm. Although for some in our area the who are already pregnant or wanting to become so, the concern has been active already for a few months.
