Founded by two moms with kids in local elementaries, Books Between Kids began only about a year ago with the simple idea to get donated books into the homes of kids without them. And in just that short span of time, they have collected over 100,000 children’s books, and helped 15,000 kids put something in their hands and on their shelves. For their efforts, fellow Houstonian Barbara Bush, along with family and literacy foundation, helped honor the founders with a Points of Light Award. A national honor program started under her husbands administration, and continued to this day. (Video: KHOU 11 News)
