While the city still mourns at the site of Friday’s terrible fire, and the families and firends of those injured pray for recovery, the city has announced plans for a public memorial service at Reliant.
Rusty Graham, Your Houston News
A public memorial service for four Houston Fire Department firefighters killed Friday while fighting a motel fire will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Reliant Stadium.
The HFD Arson Division is also asking the public for assistance. Anyone with any information about Friday’s fire at the Southwest Inn is asked to call the division at 713-247-8900.
Speaking to the press in front of the fire scene and struggling to be heard over the din of Southwest Freeway traffic, Capt. Ruy Lozano said Monday that 30,000-40,000 people are expected to attend.
He said that firefighters from across the state have contacted HFD, volunteering to cover stations so that those firefighters can attend the service.
