While focus has mostly been on weapons in the public debate since the Connecticut shooting last week, the role and ability of families and institutions to address mental health issues is critical to stopping future tragedies, either large and small. Texas unfortunately is ranked last in the nation in addressing mental health. And local and statewide reports recently have provided a very disturbing picture.
