In 1999, Texas passed the nation’s first statewide Newborn Abandonment Law (or Baby Moses Law). Although controversial to many at the time, there was more concern for the alarming increase in newborns being abandoned in perilous places. This week one of the young lives saved by the policy came face to face with the man who first found him outside an Arlington firehouse. It was his 10th birthday wish. (Get your tissues.)
Today the Baby Moses Project, based in Victoria, helps further educate the public on this policy and helps let young mothers know they have other options.
