The Doors Project is a unique collaborative project comprised of 25 local, regional and nationally recognized artists, emerging artists, and student-artists who have come together to celebrate Houston Habitat for Humanity’s 25th Anniversary and to honor it’s mission to end poverty housing in the greater Houston community. Equipped with only a salvaged door, each artist or team has generously created an original piece of work, which captures not only their artistic style but also the individual interpretation of transforming from the old, something new and deeply meaningful. The Doors Project as a whole creates its own visual language that celebrates the diverse and varied expressions of the artists from abstract and figurative paintings to neon, folklore, and the incorporation of found objects.
The completed doors will be exhibited at public and private venues and receptions throughout October and will be auctioned during Houston Habitat’s 25th Anniversary Gala, There’s No Place Like Home, on November 7, 2012 at the Hilton of Americas. To purchase tickets or learn more see their website.
