HOUSTON – For some, Monday’s storms were more than just an inconvenience. Dozens of families are now homeless after flood waters ruined their apartments.
The water got so high at the Royal Palms Apartments, children and adults had to be ferried to dry land. FOX 26 returned to the complex on Tuesday as families began cleaning up. The rain packed such a strong punch; it pushed a refrigerator into the courtyard. “The icebox came floating out and floated around the corner and into the field, and this morning it ended right here,” Kristal Jones said.
A day later, the Red Cross arrived to meet with families who didn’t have much to start with, like Henrietta Jackson. “I don’t have nothing. I have three kids. I don’t have nothing. I don’t have nothing,” Jackson said. Water is still inside Jackson’s apartment.
