Army social worker with Houston ties among those killed in Afghan suicide blast

An Army social worker dedicated to helping troops suffering from post-traumatic stress was among those killed over last weekend when a suicide bomber rammed an armored bus in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
Lt. Col. David E. Cabrera, 41, grew up in Houston and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1988. A clinical social worker with the Army’s Medical Service Corps, he leaves behind his wife, August, and four children, ages 5 to 13.
