Houston Officials Consider Addressing Food Desert Problem By Changing Alcohol Policies

Already under fire by some advocates for making questionable deals with strip clubs in order to help advance an anti-human trafficking office, the Mayors office is now skirting further ironic policy trade-offs. But this time, in order to address the problem of too few grocery stores in poor neighborhoods, Mayor Parker’s office is looking to possibly ease-up restrictions on alcohol sales for large grocery chains that might open near schools and churches.
