Big Local Win of the Night: HISD $1.9 Billion Bond Issue Passes Easily Amid Great Excitement & Surprising Support

While Mitt Romney’s strong showing in Texas might suggest Texans overall favor lower taxes, the citizens of Houston have agreed to accept a little more property valuation in order to help build new high schools. And while older white citizens are normally among the strongest opponents of these sorts of initiatives, they seemed to have been among strong supporters this time.
