Teachers Face Many Issues But They All Point to Stress, Burnout and Questions for Parents, Voters

University of Houston sociology professor, Gary Dwokin, recently penned an study on teacher burnout. Entitled “Teacher Burnout in the Public Schools: Structural Causes and Consequences for Children” has looked at how education has changed in the past decade. Overall he finds a profession with increasingly passionless teachers stressed by budget cuts and high-stakes testing that impacts their work, but with little or no feedback or responsibility, put back on support from their student’s family’s, the community or institutions that hire them.
