International Women’s Day:

From Seneca Falls to Houston and Beyond

Today is International Women’s Day. And as we like to connect international and local issues we thought it was a good time to take a look back at Houston’s major historical role in furthering women’s concerns and leadership presence through the National Women’s Conference hosted here in 1977.

While some of the domestic issues debated then are still in our headlines today, it’s worth a look (if you have an hour) at this amazing post-event network news documentary to see how far we’ve come both nationally and locally in 25 years. From Congresswoman Barabara Jordan, on to two Houston mayors, a Texas Governor, and a US Senator, we indeed have come a long way ladies.
