Are We On The Verge Of A Disruptive “Tsunami?”

As HOUmanitarian has been covering since last week, the Chronicle of Philanthropy continues to share views on the prospect of tax code changes and their impact on charity in the US. Today Diana Aviv, President of Independent Sector, a coalition of charities and foundations, offers views on a potential “tsunami” of changes that could upset the system so much as to leave the sector in massive disarray. Tomorrow, we’ll report on a contrary view that asks why are so many charities focused on essentially preserving tax deductions for their wealthy patrons, versus saying anything at all about fairness and justice in the public tax and funding systems that impact many of their clients.
